Hazardous Materials // Dangerous Goods Training

All hazmat employers are required by U.S. law to obtain hazmat training for their hazmat employees - and the government's definition of who is a hazmat employer is VERY broad (including practically all aeronautical repair stations, and most other aviation businesses). FAA Order 8300.10 now requires FAA principal inspectors to check your hazmat compliance!

The Washington Aviation Group, in partnership with AEA, ARSA and ASA, offers hazardous materials/dangerous goods training. The training class is two days long and it meets the training requirements of Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations as well as the IATA/ICAO requirements. The registration fee includes all books and materials (EXCEPT the IATA DGR, which must be obtained separately). Those who successfully complete the class will receive a training certificate as well as a record of training suitable for retention in company personnel files. Members of the sponsoring trade associations (AEA, ARSA, ASA and MARPA) receive a discount on registration (see below for prices).

We hold web-based training to better suit your company's business needs and your schedule. This allows students to participate from the comfort of their own work stations.  The two-day web-based training is scheduled to be held twice a year - once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Recurrent trainees will attend for half a day on each day and will be able to work half a day - initial trainees (first time participants) will have two full days of instruction in order to get a firm grounding in how to ship hazmat in compliance with the regulations. The class times are designed to accommodate US persons from the U.S. East Coast to the U.S. West Coast, but non-US persons are welcome to participate as well.

Each class is designed to meet both U.S. and non-U.S. training requirements. Need to know more? You can find answers to many of your questions on our Frequently Asked Questions page. You can find out more about our hazmat instructors here. You can find a sample class syllabus and schedule here.

We will also hold a number of private classes for our corporate clients. Please feel free to call us if you need to schedule a class for your company - we are always happy to work with you to schedule a class that meets your needs.
